The Phil Wood half link eccentric bottom bracket

Phil Wood's new half link Eccentric Bottom Bracket, or EBB, is smaller, lighter, better-looking, and just better all round than a conventional EBB and is used with standard chains using a half-link connector. With more than 1/4 inch or 6mm of travel, it lets you run any gear combination.

It was perfect for a disc-braked frame made for Rohloff's incredible 14-speed internally geared rear hub. With a careful choice of chainstay length the half link won't even be needed since you won't be swapping chainring or cog sizes to alter gearing as you would with a singlespeed.

For singlespeeds, any gear combination can be run using a half-link joining-link, so you can use vertical dropouts, a quick-release axle and not need to re-position the disc caliper when changing sprockets (and by not running a badly worn chain the known issue of slightly accelerated sprocket-tooth wear won't be a problem)
