my new ride

My new ride, singlespeed or geared, on and off-road. Not sure what this would be called but I've always wanted to try one. It flies with 23C road tyres and goes off-road on up to 45C knobbies. On smooth dirt tracks, it's a delicate device that rewards paying close attention.

It rails through hard-packed singletrack corners and accelerates faster than any mountainbike on the straights. With small 14mm diameter seatstays in the rear and road-bike fork blades up front, it takes the edge off bumps better than a mountainbike. Currently set up as a singlespeed, there are braze-ons for 1x9 and an Alfine rear hub.

Having to watch every bit of the track for every rock and bump makes riding off road much more interesting. Same for road tyres teamed with disc brakes.
