The Singlespeed Worlds in Rotorua was a fantastic event…. great weather, great trails, interesting people and interesting bikes everywhere you looked.
The trail network just south of Rotorua, the Redwoods was simply sensational, with sweeping rolling singletrack. Well worth a visit.
The kind of riding on offer……. Pondy New
Daman, a local rider with a custom steel Jeffson 29er offered to take me on a loop of his favourite trails. He was fast and I stuck to his wheel and matched his lines. It doesn’t get much better than blasting along new trails without really knowing them. High risk but great fun!
We took Billy T, Moerangi Road, Loop Road, Split Enz, Pondy Downhill, Pondy New (video above), an un-official link, Ring Road to Spring Roll, Sweet & Sour,, Bunny Jugs 1, Dragons Tail (my favourite, totally awesome), Red Tank Road, Nursery Road, the top of Rock Drop and Pohaturoa Rd. All on the map here
